Shuttle Kiln Furnace
Type of intermittent kiln, or oven, used for firing ceramic products such as pottery, porcelain, tiles, refractories, and technical ceramics. Unlike continuous kilns like tunnel kilns, shuttle kilns operate in a batch mode, where the products are loaded into the kiln, fired, and then unloaded before the next firing cycle begins. The name “shuttle kiln” comes from the fact that the kiln’s firing chamber is equipped with a movable platform, or shuttle, that transports the products in and out of the kiln.
